I just want Matt to be happy. Really, I do.
I mean, he didn’t ask for that kind of life. Being friends with Elena (Caroline, Tyler & Bonnie, too, but mostly Elena just because…) just sort of dragged him into the middle of it all.
Now he’s almost drowned. All he wanted to do was protect a friend, because he’s the nicest, most down to earth person you will ever meet on Vampire Diaries. He wants a life without Vampires, he’ll side with them if there is no other choice, but he’s usually got better suggestions on how to deal with situations than the other characters do. Of course they never listen to Matt… Possibly just because he’s not a Vampire.
Seeing how he reacted when Elena told him Tyler had ‘died’ was absolutely heartbreaking. It was him, losing a friend he cared about, over supernatural circumstances. Circumstances that now consume all of their lives. Circumstances he absolutely hates, and this is why. He probably knows deep down that they would all have possibly have been devoid of lives like this if Stefan hadn’t turned up ever in the first place. (Though Klaus may have still tried to get his hands on Elena, to be honest. Just let me pin the blame on Stefan, too, ok?)
I really feel for Matt, and I sincerely hope he finds a girlfriend sometime. Someone who will take care of him the way he deserves, and be there and listen to him. Someone he can listen to and take care of in return.
To be honest though, I did like Caroline and Matt together, and I fucking hate that it was ruined by the fact she was a Vampire. Which is why I hate Katherine as a result.
I just wanna hug Matt and give him a cup of tea, sit him on my couch, put a blanket on him, coddle him and tell him everything will be ok.
I don’t know where I’m going with this. I just wanted to say I love Matt Donovan.
He lost his sister to Vampirism. He lost Elena to Stefan (though he and she had broken up before Stefan came into the picture). Now he’s lost Tyler because of Klaus, and Caroline (Matt’s most recent Ex, if you recall) has to flee town or the town will be on her like white on rice and a glass of milk on a paper plate in a snowstorm (Or however Major Payne says that).
I AM EXCITE.
